6 Book You Must Read if You are Korean Dramas’ Addict – Part 1

Well you must quite aware that I am one of those Korean dramas’ addicts. I’ve been watching romantic dramas from this country since I was still in college. Lately I’ve been adding Chinese’s dramas, Thailand’s dramas and Philippines’ dramas to my list.

Besides watching drama I also enjoy reading books especially romantic books. I can’t handle story that ends with one of the main characters die. I hate sad ending the most. So, if you wish to get the same feeling as you get when watching Asian drama series, here are some books you MUST read because believe me it is better to read rather than watching the series on screen.

My Little Princess by Macchiato

This book is so hilarious yet still romantic. You must be aware that usually the male character that is super rich and handsome will fall in love with an ordinary female character that is usually poor. And then there’s another female character that is evil and I usually call it the second female

Well … this book tells from the perspective of the second female. Lin Xing Cheng is a rich girl who is engaged to Chu Yao. Chu Yao, like another typical male lead, falls for Yang Yang, a poor girl from the school. Xing Cheng tries her best to make Chu Yao likes her.

During her attempt, Xing Cheng asks the help of Nian Yu, a handsome boy who isn’t rich but super smart. Xing Cheng somehow thinks that Nian Yu is interested to Yang Yang . However, what she thinks is not completely right.

A Man About Town by Hyun Go Wun

I’ve been repeatedly reading this book. This book tells about a gentle, super handsome and super smart Sang Kyung (if this kind of man really exist T-T) who also happens to be a playboy. Sang Kyung know how to make girls falls for him but manage to dump them without even making those girls mad at him.

One day, this super charming architecture is introduced to a daughter of his client. His client is so amazed by Sang Kyung so she desperately wishes her daughter will feel the same. Min Ju, on the other hand, doesn’t like her mother matchmaking idea.

However, Min Ju forced to meet Sang Kyung because her mother threatens to marry Sang Kyung herself if Min Ju refuses to meet Sang Kyung. Sang Kyung who loves women is at first not interested to Min Ju too. But after knowing that Min Ju doesn’t fall for him instantly like other girls, he knows that Min Ju is different.

I’ll be Your Wife by Jho Hyo Eun

A 23-year-old Kim Mo Rae lives alone and has to works hard for his college. One day, when she is devastated, she gets into an accident and wakes up in another body, a rich and beautiful woman named Seung Won. Seung Won owns unhappy life because she can’t marry the man she’s deeply in love with and married to Sang Hyuk.

Seung Won knows that Sang Hyuk is a good man however she’s still can’t forget her lover that’s why instead of having a good marriage life with Sang Kyung, she hurts that man feeling by dating lots of man, taking those man to their home and even drinking lots of alcohol.

Seung Won thinks that owing Mo Rae’s body, she can has another change to live a happy life she’s been dreaming of with her past lover who she needs to search. Mo Rae, who thinks that Seung Won is so sad, agrees to pretend as Seung Won and goes home to Sang Kyung’ home. Living her days at a big mansion, Mo Rae realizes that Sang Kyung, despite his cold and bold character, is a good and lonely man. Mo Rae finds herself falls for this man. Sang Kyung, on the other hand, notices the change of a woman who lives with him but never once spoke to him. This woman is now warm and cares about him.

"In a Blue Moon" by Ilana Tan

Hello again ……

This time around I decided to share my number one favorite book which I’ve reread for more than ten times and it’s called “In a Blue Moon” by my favorite author also Ilana Tan.

It is all started when Sophie Wilson, a girl who runs her own tartlet outlet called A Piece of Cake met Lucas Ford, the only person she wishes to never ever see again after what he did during their high school time. In fact, Sophie has always had this hatred feeling against Lucas, a top and famous chef of Ramses, a fancy and very well-known restaurant in New York.

The two met again after ten years at a wedding of Spencer Wilson, Sophie’s brother. Lucas’ grandfather, Gordon Ford, attends the wedding ceremony for he is a close friend to Thomas Wilson, Sophie’s grandfather. When the eccentric old man named Gordon met Sophie for the first time, he decided that Sophie will be the only fiancée for his grandson Lucas and when this old man made his mind he would do whatever it takes to make it happen.

When Lucas and Sophie met again after ten years apart, the famous chef felt the same way when he first knew Sophie in the high school, something he never felt to any other girl before. He knew that Sophie still hated him and for that he tried so many ways hoping that girl would accept his apology. With Gordon as his reason, Lucas convinced Sophie that they should met each other to ensure that their grandfathers no longer involved in their relationship and Sophie finally agreed.

After couples of meeting, couples of coincidence encounters and couples of text messages, Sophie finally remembered the feeling she used to have when she looked at Lucas’ eyes. The two were also faced by the presences of Miranda, Lucas’ model friend who consider herself to be the only girl for Lucas, and Adrian Graves, Sophie’s ex-boyfriend.

What I love about this book is that each character in this book is so different yet interesting and real at the same time. The author also successfully describes New York where the story takes place. Each of the story’s character is so mature.

For you who haven’t read this book, I highly recommend it for you. Me myself still enjoy reading it even though I’ve reread the book several times. For addition, Ilana Tan is a mysterious author since all of the books written by this author never mentioned anything about the author’s profile.

Two of Ilana Tan’s books that have been made into big screen are “Sunshines Becomes You” and “Winter in Tokyo”.
