6 Book You Must Read if You are Korean Dramas’ Addict – Part 1

Well you must quite aware that I am one of those Korean dramas’ addicts. I’ve been watching romantic dramas from this country since I was still in college. Lately I’ve been adding Chinese’s dramas, Thailand’s dramas and Philippines’ dramas to my list.

Besides watching drama I also enjoy reading books especially romantic books. I can’t handle story that ends with one of the main characters die. I hate sad ending the most. So, if you wish to get the same feeling as you get when watching Asian drama series, here are some books you MUST read because believe me it is better to read rather than watching the series on screen.

My Little Princess by Macchiato

This book is so hilarious yet still romantic. You must be aware that usually the male character that is super rich and handsome will fall in love with an ordinary female character that is usually poor. And then there’s another female character that is evil and I usually call it the second female

Well … this book tells from the perspective of the second female. Lin Xing Cheng is a rich girl who is engaged to Chu Yao. Chu Yao, like another typical male lead, falls for Yang Yang, a poor girl from the school. Xing Cheng tries her best to make Chu Yao likes her.

During her attempt, Xing Cheng asks the help of Nian Yu, a handsome boy who isn’t rich but super smart. Xing Cheng somehow thinks that Nian Yu is interested to Yang Yang . However, what she thinks is not completely right.

A Man About Town by Hyun Go Wun

I’ve been repeatedly reading this book. This book tells about a gentle, super handsome and super smart Sang Kyung (if this kind of man really exist T-T) who also happens to be a playboy. Sang Kyung know how to make girls falls for him but manage to dump them without even making those girls mad at him.

One day, this super charming architecture is introduced to a daughter of his client. His client is so amazed by Sang Kyung so she desperately wishes her daughter will feel the same. Min Ju, on the other hand, doesn’t like her mother matchmaking idea.

However, Min Ju forced to meet Sang Kyung because her mother threatens to marry Sang Kyung herself if Min Ju refuses to meet Sang Kyung. Sang Kyung who loves women is at first not interested to Min Ju too. But after knowing that Min Ju doesn’t fall for him instantly like other girls, he knows that Min Ju is different.

I’ll be Your Wife by Jho Hyo Eun

A 23-year-old Kim Mo Rae lives alone and has to works hard for his college. One day, when she is devastated, she gets into an accident and wakes up in another body, a rich and beautiful woman named Seung Won. Seung Won owns unhappy life because she can’t marry the man she’s deeply in love with and married to Sang Hyuk.

Seung Won knows that Sang Hyuk is a good man however she’s still can’t forget her lover that’s why instead of having a good marriage life with Sang Kyung, she hurts that man feeling by dating lots of man, taking those man to their home and even drinking lots of alcohol.

Seung Won thinks that owing Mo Rae’s body, she can has another change to live a happy life she’s been dreaming of with her past lover who she needs to search. Mo Rae, who thinks that Seung Won is so sad, agrees to pretend as Seung Won and goes home to Sang Kyung’ home. Living her days at a big mansion, Mo Rae realizes that Sang Kyung, despite his cold and bold character, is a good and lonely man. Mo Rae finds herself falls for this man. Sang Kyung, on the other hand, notices the change of a woman who lives with him but never once spoke to him. This woman is now warm and cares about him.

His Passsion, My Passion, Your Passion

Hi again,

I'm not going to write a long post this time, just a short one. So tonight me and my husband were having a small conversation. We've been quite busy these past weeks. Him with a new factory project to handle (he's in charge for every detail on it) and me staying up late (not every day though) doing what I really really love that is writing.

I am so grateful that Allah SWT gives me a chance to write again and thankfully there's bucks comes along. So my husband slightly said that he has tons to handle and being very busy but he also enjoys all the process and learnings he gets along the way. So I told him too that the day before I slept at 1.30 PM doing my article and surprisingly, I didn't feel any burden or tired and I really really enjoy what I'm doing (I wish I can continue doing this).

So then, come in conclusion, I said to my husband because it is your passion and because this is my passion. We're currently doing something that makes us, us. There's no better way to make money than doing what you love to do and what your passionate about.

I couldn't be more grateful. Allah SWT has been very kind to us. So for whoever you are, seek what you really love and do exactly where your passion lies. Keep searching, keep praying, keep believing. Do what makes you ... you.

A Love Letter to My Husband

I love you ...

If there's a word that can express how I feel more than love could describe, I will choose the word.

I could remember exactly the first time I saw you. It was when Mrs Nyoman class about English Grammar. You were coming to class a little bit late. At that time, the class had already filled with first semester students and you walked in wearing a gray vest with a hoodie heading to an empty chair at the very back of the class. At that time, I just already felt something. Maybe because of that  mysterious expression of yours.

From that moment on, going to class had always been something I looked forward. I really can't wait to just see you. Believe me I couldn't even imagined of you liking me at that time. So college life is just amazing. Beside me loving studying English, I also has someone I have a crush on.

One day our classmate Sofy invited some friends at her house and when I accidentally saw you at the back of our college building, I randomly asked you whether you would join us or not to Sofy's house and you slightly answered yes. Believe me I jumped in excitement right behind you just like a little girl given a ticket to some amusement park. You don't know it up till now.

At Sofy's house everyone's was having a fun chat. That afternoon I suddenly wanted to ride a small bike belongs to Sofy's nephew. Then you came and said that you wanted to ride it with me. Would everything be different if you didn't ride the bike with me at that time? Thinking about it, I realized that we got closer and closer from that moment.

Even after we texted alot, even after we ride a motorbike together to one of our friend's house together with some of our college friends, still I didn't dare to imagine that you will like me. So thank you. Thank you for choosing me. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for always be there for me. Thank you for never failing to make me smile. Thank you for taking care of me.

And yes love is magic. And for me, you will always be magical for me. I love you. Never once another man filled my head or heart ever since I'm in love with you.

And I'm glad that we now have our son. Love feels more complete with his present. Alhamdulilah. I love you both. Thank you my handsome, hardworking, gentle and caring husband.

Fav Romcom: “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”

I believe everyone has their own childhood favorite movies of all time. And same as the others, I also have mine and today I wanna share one of my favorite childhood movies. I watched this film when I was still in junior high school and instantly get attached to it. This big screen project was quite a hit at that time and it’s called “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”, a 2003 romantic comedy film directed by Donald Petrie, starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey.

Thanks to this film, I set a dream of becoming a writer in a magazine and luckily after I graduated from college I got accepted as junior writer in a well-known online magazine and believe me I love the job a whole lot. But for some reasons, I decided to quite the job (I sometimes miss it though, the job suit me perfectly). I even used the name of Kate Hudson’s character in the movie as my alias (I remembered I was very thrilled about using this name).

This movie is very very hilarious yet romantic at the same time. Andie Anderson, portrayed by beautiful Miss Hudson, is a writer for the women's magazine Composure and was assigned to write a column for the magazine about the reverse tips of dating guides and the column would be titled the same as the movie’s name, “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”. In the other hand, Matthew McConaughey portrays Benjamin Barry, an advertiser who is challenged by his collages and boss to date a girl and make the girl fall in love with him within a week.

One of Benjamin’s collages picked a girl intentionally for she knew that Andie was working for her dating reverse column, feeling confident that somehow Benjamin would lose the bet because Benjamin would never succeed in making Andie fall for him. During those 10 days, lots of hilarious things happened between Benjamin and Andie. Andie did whatever she thought every woman did that made their boyfriends ran away. Benjamin, in the other hand, was forced to make the relationship stay longer and patiently accepted all the madness Andie did to him.

And just every other fairy tales and romantic comedies has, the two eventually fall for each other and off course they ended up being together. But trust me if you among those romcom freaks just like me, you certainly can’t miss this movie.

My Son Is so Into “Earth Song” and “Heal the World”

Lately I watched and listened to Michael Jackson’s two famous songs a lot called “Earth Song” and “Heal the World” thanks to my six years old son.

So it was all started when my husband was working on his laptop at home while listening to “Earth Song”. Getting interested by the song caught his ears, my son asked what is the song called. My husband got super serious for this question, he stopped whatever the work he did and opened Youtube, showed our curious son the song’s clip and explained what the song is all about.

Then what happened next just come naturally. Our son asked me to print the song’s lyrics and downloaded the song in order for him to memorize it. He almost never missed listening to it every day. Can’t you imagine how frustrated my parents are since my son monopolized their television and watched “Earth Song” ’s clip all day.

But positive thing about this new interest is that my son asked lots of questions about nature, mother earth, what cause all the destruction happened on. That’s quite deep questions you guys and for a six years old child I’m so blessed that he has already asked these questions.

He asked me to buy him white gloves just like Michael Jackson wore in the clip and practiced the famous moon walk (and it is super funny). One day he draw the earth and wrote on it aku bumi ( I love earth ) and draw the king of pop himself.

Motherhood is just great and I’m super blessed for having this loveable son whom I wished all the happiness, health and success in life. And most importantly I wish he never ever go different direction from what Allah SWT tells us to.

"In a Blue Moon" by Ilana Tan

Hello again ……

This time around I decided to share my number one favorite book which I’ve reread for more than ten times and it’s called “In a Blue Moon” by my favorite author also Ilana Tan.

It is all started when Sophie Wilson, a girl who runs her own tartlet outlet called A Piece of Cake met Lucas Ford, the only person she wishes to never ever see again after what he did during their high school time. In fact, Sophie has always had this hatred feeling against Lucas, a top and famous chef of Ramses, a fancy and very well-known restaurant in New York.

The two met again after ten years at a wedding of Spencer Wilson, Sophie’s brother. Lucas’ grandfather, Gordon Ford, attends the wedding ceremony for he is a close friend to Thomas Wilson, Sophie’s grandfather. When the eccentric old man named Gordon met Sophie for the first time, he decided that Sophie will be the only fiancée for his grandson Lucas and when this old man made his mind he would do whatever it takes to make it happen.

When Lucas and Sophie met again after ten years apart, the famous chef felt the same way when he first knew Sophie in the high school, something he never felt to any other girl before. He knew that Sophie still hated him and for that he tried so many ways hoping that girl would accept his apology. With Gordon as his reason, Lucas convinced Sophie that they should met each other to ensure that their grandfathers no longer involved in their relationship and Sophie finally agreed.

After couples of meeting, couples of coincidence encounters and couples of text messages, Sophie finally remembered the feeling she used to have when she looked at Lucas’ eyes. The two were also faced by the presences of Miranda, Lucas’ model friend who consider herself to be the only girl for Lucas, and Adrian Graves, Sophie’s ex-boyfriend.

What I love about this book is that each character in this book is so different yet interesting and real at the same time. The author also successfully describes New York where the story takes place. Each of the story’s character is so mature.

For you who haven’t read this book, I highly recommend it for you. Me myself still enjoy reading it even though I’ve reread the book several times. For addition, Ilana Tan is a mysterious author since all of the books written by this author never mentioned anything about the author’s profile.

Two of Ilana Tan’s books that have been made into big screen are “Sunshines Becomes You” and “Winter in Tokyo”.

2019 Teen RomCom Movies

Review time ………..

Do I need to stretch up since I haven’t done this for decades hahahahhaha …..
Okay right now I want to review three teenage romantic comedy films I watched recently. And what I mean teenage is yes these three movies cover stories about high school students. I have watched some teenage movies lately but I love these three so far. Okay let’s start.

Let’s start with the third from my personal charts. The third will be “Tall Girl”, released by Netflix on September 13, 2019. The movie is about a 16-year old girl, the tallest girl in school with height 6 ft 1 1⁄2 in (1.87 m) tall. Jodi, played by beautiful Ava Michelle, is constantly mocked by her classmates with their repeated same question, “how’s the sky up there?” Despite all that mockery, Jodi is actually a smart, kind, brave and loyal girl. She has these two bestfriends Jack Dunkleman, portrays by Griffin Gluck, who has crush on her for years, and eccentric Anjelika Washington as Fareeda, who will stand for her no matter what. And with the present of Stig Mohlin, a Swedish foreign exchange student who apparently is taller than Jodi, this tall girl instantly falls for. The struggle Jodi has to go through to get his attention has somehow shaken her friendship with Jack Dunkleman and Fareeda and trapped her in love triangle. But the film ends very nice with Jodi comes to realize that all she needs all this time is all what she already has.

Let’s move to the second from my personal charts and it goes to “The Last Summer”. I really really enjoy watching this romcom which tells a group of friends with each of their love, friendship and college problems they have to face during their final summer before college. One story follows KJ Apa as Griffin and Maia Mitchell as Phoebe, two brilliant students who both accepted in top universities and during those summer holiday the two fall for each other when Griffin helps beautiful Phoebe with her documentary film project. Another story follows Halston Sage as Erin and Jacob Latimore as Alec, Erin’s longtime boyfriend. The two decide to go to separate ways trying to be realistic since going to colleges in different country will, they believe, eventually break them apart. Other follows Erin’s best friend Audrey played by Sosie Bacon and Wolfgang Novogratz as Foster, Alec’s bestfriend. Separately the two portrayed struggled with what they really want and what they try to achieve.

And finally, the first from my personal charts goes to (drumroll pelase ….) “To All the Boys I've Loved Before”. The 2018 American teen romance movie is based on Jenny Han’s 2014 novel of the same name. It started with Lara Jean, portrays by Lana Condor, with all her love letters she wrote for all the boys she had a crush on and kept all those letters in her closet. The last letter she wrote was to her childhood friend Josh, who is dating her older sister Margot. But Margot and Josh break up when Margot moves to college. The things get messed up when Lara’s little sister Kitty sneaks into Lara’s room, finds the love letters and decides to send all those letters to the intended destination. The next day, Lara is confronted by her former crush Peter Kavinsky, played by Noah Centineo, who claims to receive her love letter through mail. Lara and Peter decide to play as a fake couple in order to get the attention of Josh and Peter’s ex-girlfriend.  But during that fake relationship, the two realize that they can’t live apart.
